Things you need:

Programs used in this article:

Chainer 1.03  (a free trial of a VST Host application from Xlutop)

Classic Delay (a free VST delay effect from Kjaerhus Audio)

1)     Download and Install Chainer 1.03. Take note of what folder your VST Plugin Folder is, by default “C:\Program Files\VSTPlugins

2)     Download and unpack Kjaerhus Audio’s Classic Delay into the VSTPlugins folder mentioned above.

3)     Open Chainer. Go ahead and click OK, this is a trial version with features disabled, but you can still use it without problems.

4)     Click on the top arrow and choose “Insert Input”.

5)     You should see what is on the screen below. Now choose the second arrow and go to “Effects->Classic Delay”

6)     Now find the “1” button under Editor for the Classic Delay effect (2nd Slot):

7)     The Classic Delay editor should now be visible. First go ahead and turn this knob all the way to the right. This eliminates your source sound from playing through the speakers, and maximizes the delay sound:

8)     You don’t have to do this, but I prefer this sound for practice, so I choose the “Digital” delay.

9)     Now you can adjust the TIME and FEEDBACK LEVEL knobs to change the length of the delay and how many times you hear the same sound before it completely dies away.

10) You are now ready to practice with delay! Enjoy!
